Roles (in the Settings module)

The Roles sub-module is divided into project and portal roles. Each user can be assigned both types of roles. The roles define the users’ permissions and functions.

  • Project roles define user permissions in the project. For example: If the user is a developer, you can add a “Developer role” to the user. This means that they will be able to edit and create an issue, but not remove or close it (click here for more information on project roles).

  • Portal roles define the user’s access to JunoOne (it defines what is displayed to the user in JunoOne). For example: If the user has the role “MENU_PROJECTS” but not the role “MENU_SETTINGS”, they will be able to see the Projects module in the main menu, but not the Settings module.

Add a new role

To add a new portal or project role, click the “Add Role” button. A new form window appears.

For the project role, check the box: “Role for project roles”.

For portal roles, do not select the “Role for project roles” check box.

Fill in the name and press “Add”. The new roles appear at the bottom of the list. Click the “Edit Role” button to add specific rights to the new role and save it.

Editing a role

All current roles can be edited (even the default ones).

Click the orange “Edit Role” button and a new window will appear. Here you can see the role name and the list of all permissions. Clicking on the “i” button will display information about the specific permissions. Check the box to confirm. To remove any permission, uncheck the box.

Deleting a role

To remove any role from the list, click the red “Delete” button. Confirm the action in the next step and the role will be deleted.

Final summary concerning permissions

Each role should have a unique permission group that can be changed. Permissions are divided into two groups – project and portal permissions. Clicking on “Edit Role” will display a template with portal / project permissions. The “i” button gives an explanation of specific permissions.
